There are leftovers after using Lighty2Go
I ran the program through InCTRL5 and it's not completely portable because it leaves this registry key behind:

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog\Application\MySQL

Please remove it upon exit to make the program really portable.

Thanks!

Thanks for pointing this out for me -
I'll take a look and see what I can find / do about that entry.

RE: There are leftovers after using Lighty2Go
I found out another leftover: both LightTPD.exe & mysqld-nt.exe are in XP SP2's firewall's exception list (BTW, I keep both of them disabled and they work just fine, so they don't really need to be in that list).

RE: There are leftovers after using Lighty2Go
Both leftovers (the registry one and the firewall one) still remain in the new v1.5 .

RE: There are leftovers after using Lighty2Go
Still working on solutions to these ...
The original purpose of Lighty2Go was to be portable .. which it is ...
I never mentioned nor targeted it to be "stealth" i.e. leave 'No Traces' on the host machine.

So while I will continue to look at fixes for these issues, they are not at the top of the fixes, additions list.

RE: There are leftovers after using Lighty2Go
What exactly is the difference between portable and not leaving traces? 100% portable=100% no traces.

RE: There are leftovers after using Lighty2Go
Portable = can be used from removable media etc. and still functions correctly.
Leaving no traces behind on the host machine is know as a 'stealth' application.
Like I said I'll still try to look into this - but my point is that it still works in the way I originally intended it to.

Through the risk of driving you nuts, I just wouldn't feel complete without mentioning:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portable_application Wrote:Portable software is usually designed to be able to store its configuration information and data on the storage media containing its program files.
