  1. Lighty2Go not working.

Before Lighty2Go , I had Lighttd and MySQL working on my Windows Vista PC. All is good.

I shut down both Lighty2Go and MySQL. Set the services to manual. Rebooted.

Installed Lighty2Go per README instruction (nice and EZ) but not website. Both processes where verified. Shut down servers. Change LightTPD conf server.port = 81, restated just LightTPD. Tryed http://localhost:81/ still nothing. Removed the #server.port = 81, add debug to conf, restarted LightTPD, still not website, log files are clean.

  2. More info…

I used the same memory stick with the above Lighty2Go installed and plugged it into a Windows 2000 PC and it worked fine. Vista is the problem.

  3. Test report:

Version 0.7 (and older) has problem if the running directory is anything other than Lighty2Go.

The set-path.bat currently does NOT update the path for LightTPD,MySQL,PHP configuration files.

Version 0.7 is running fine on WIn2K from the Lighty2Go directory.

BTW, nice theme update…much better :) It seem like Lighttpd website also got an update.

  4. Mark - I am not sure what your issue might be.
Do you mean that you had LightTPD and MySQL “installed” on your PC before using Lighty2Go?
I am not sure if this will cause a conflict in any way.
“Lighty2K” is correct - Lighty2Go is designed (for now at least) to be un-zipped to a top-level directory with no spaces etc. and then everything should work. The individual config files for the apps themselves are based off of a “Lighty2Go” working directory.
I have tested v0.7 on a few machines and all seems to be working OK.
I am however aware of a possible issue with the taskkill command on Windows Vista, I’ll be looking into that.

  5. Thanks Lighty2K for the test report and with helping Mark with his issues.
Shoot - looks like I’m gonna have to get me a Vista PC to do some testing on.
Yeah I think this theme might ‘finally’ stick it’s pretty good.
And yeah I noticed that LightTPD has a nice new layout too.

  6. I installed Lighty2Go, unziped, in the root directory of my USB stick F: drive of my Vista PC. The services start and run but no website at http://localhost nor http://127.0.0.1.

I also installed a fresh Lighty2Go on the C: drive with the same results. No website.

When I remove the memory stick that have Lighty2Go installed from the Vista PC and plug it into my Windows 2k PC, Lighty2Go works.

  7. Mark - I wonder if there is some type of new loopback security setting in Vista that might be blocking the site from loading. Or do you have any software firewalls running that might be blocking it? Did you by any chance try accessing http://127.0.0.1 from a browser other than IE? Just curious.

Like I said above guess I gotta go get Vista to do some testing. I have a spare PC that is new enough to run Vista so I’ll have to go buy a copy.
(Anyone willing to donate to the cause?)

Thanks for the info Mark - I’ll see what i can find out.

  8. Tom-I have not try another browser. However, I do have Lighttpd run on Vista. I just have not gotten Lighty2Go’s Lighttpd running. I am going to work with the Lighty2Go conf files and compare them to my run Lighttpd/Vista conf files and see if I can get Lighty2Go to work.

  9. OK, If I add the -D option to the lighttpd.exe line in your Start-Lighty.bat file the server work. If I don’t the server runs but does not work.

  10. OK so if you don’t background the process (-D) it runs OK on Vista but using the normal process launch the service starts but does not load web content.
And just to verify - you didn’t make any other adjustments to the conf files etc. just added the -D option to the command line?

    Thanks
    –Tom

  11. Tom-Correct. I use a fresh Light2Go install. And with the -D option the commned window in still open running the process. If I close the command windows the servier go away.
